Hi! I'm Justin Wright. I am 16 years old and I'm a composer. I live here in the most boring part of the East Coast, Richmond VA. I own Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 (very good program) to write all my music. I'm reasonably tone deaf and I can't think a right pitch in my head, very frustrating. Anyway, I've always liked the idea of writing classical music. I hated old classical (Mozart and Brahms) they were very boring to me, strings and flutes....gah. So, I decided to write music. I always liked "hard" classical music with brass and timpani everywhere. Some of my favorite composers are like that. Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Resphigi's Pines of Rome (I just discovered that one on the new Fantasia 2000 CD) Mahler, although he's not very brassy (mind you, I've only heard the 2nd symphony) I thought it was quite good, John William's .....well most of his work, Mossorgsky's Pictures at an Exibition and Night on Bald Mountain, I started to write music this past December of 1999, my freshman year of high school. I've always enjoyed music and it was fun to do. I started out writing things for brass ensembles. *find them in the "listen" page*. That got kinda restraining after a while, so I tried for the symphony. That didn't go over too well, so I went for the Piano solo. That's when I wrote The Dragon. I then messed around with everything until just recently, when I wrote for a Symphony. The first real thing I wrote for an entire Orchestra was Rome. It was written for an English Project on Odysseus' journey thing. Funny part was it didn't even take place in Rome. After that, I began writing more pieces but none of them are done yet. I began my first symphony around July 15th. Mark that day folks, its a good day. Recently I've started writing for Video Games and such. Its fun and you can use all the cool stuff that you have, but usually wouldn't use. Its fun to have sound effects. The newest things I'm writing for is "The last Epic" (which I will score completely by myself) and an unnamed Space game that a friend of mine is doing. He's a music guy too, so he'll be giving me some ideas and such. I'll post everything when I can.
